Mini Reviews #5

I am desperately trying to catch up on my review writing. I know that I won’t get to all of them in full, so that is why I invented my mini review feature!

So, here are some more books that I read (or attempted to read) months ago that I would like to out there. =)

13493463Eve and Adam by Michael Grant and Kate Applegate

I received this as an ARC and was really excited to read this (I read this WAAAAY back in September–yes, that is how far behind I am =[  ).  Honestly, this was the book to get me out of a reading slump. From the very first page, Grant and Applegate give a VERY EXCITING Sci-Fi thriller. I was really captivated by the science of creating a genetically perfect individual, especially when the creator is a teenage girl who cannot get sick or hurt! This is just an exciting read that delves into the world of gene research. This was a quick and thrilling read!

DNF: Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan

This book started out so great! It was really intriguing and interesting. I really wanted to know what Mr. Penumbra’s book store was all about. It holds so many mysteries! I really liked the MC–his development was subtle, but it kept me reading. And then, it hit the Google snag. And it became more about promoting Google technology than solving the mysteries of the little bookshop. And it became really tedious and really boring, and I called it quits.

2012 Best Contemporary/Realistic ReadsDash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

What a cute and fun holiday read! Told in alternating view points, this is the story of how Dash and Lily, two quirky teenagers, meet via the poetry section in a used book shop. This is a Christmas adventure and blossoming romance that is addicting and entertaining! The perfect holiday read!

My Bookshelf Rating: A Fourth Shelf Book! (4 out of 5 Stars)
